ATTN: Ms. Veronica Maggio,
My name is Devin Howard and I’d like to ask you out on a date. In this case, said ‘date’ would be watching The City Dark, a documentary the trailer for which I ran across earlier today, eating takeout, and keeping up a meandering conversation about all the places we’d like to go, memorable nights and trivial complaints, how terrifyingly insane the American conservative movement is, and other things like that. Anyway, take a look at the trailer:
Doesn’t that look awesome!? Gorgeous, thought provoking, a timely introspective on the human relationship to night and stars, a tragic elegy to a crystalline cosmic backdrop that once anchored human imagination, slowly disappearing as more and more of us migrate into cities. Neil deGrasse Tyson. Time lapse photography. Heartstrings pulled this way and that.
Of course, there is a chance that you don’t care about stars or the inky embrace of night. Fair enough, we could watch Twilight: Breaking Dawn, I guess, or maybe Salmon Fishing in the Yemen? I’ll have to insist that anything with Adam Sandler is impermissible, as is Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
Let me know!
