Gross Negligence

We’ve underfunded our public schools to such an extent that many schools are now charging thousand of dollars in fees to do things like: enroll in Honors English, run cross country, or take AP courses. And for anybody who says, “those things cost money, they should be paying.” I call bullshit immediately because you are holding a student responsible for a) a parents inability to pay, thereby pricing a student out of participation in school activities and holding them accountable for an economic situation entirely beyond their control, b) those parents are ALREADY being taxed for the provision of basic necessities like, for example, being able to take an advanced class, or c) Its criminally negligent and a moral failure of historic proportions for this to happen in the wealthiest country on the planet.
